F.R.I.E.N.D.S (The pilot)

The episode (and show) starts off in Central Perk, with Monica telling Phoebe, Chandler, and Joey about a date she has. The responses by the 3 pretty much sum up their characters right off the bat. Joey has a snarky remark, Chandler makes a joke, and Phoebe says something weird

we are now introduced to Ross, who is super depressed. We find out Ross’ wife, Carol left him because she’s a lesbian. After a bit of back and forth Ross says, “…I just want to be married again!”. Aaaaand we now meet the last of our six, Rachel. Rachel runs in wearing a wedding dress having just run away from her wedding. That’s our gang.

Rachel is now going to be living with Monica and is on her own for the first time. She makes coffee and says if she is able to do that, she can do anything. Unfortunately, she can’t make coffee (well, that is) which probably isn’t a big deal since this gang will spend the next 10 years practically living in a coffee shop.F.R.I.E.N.D.S

Rachel tries calling Barry, her ex fiance, but keeps getting the voicemail. In the end, she cuts up her credit cards, now officially starting her life over, and working at Central Perk. Monica goes on her date with Paul the Wine guy who tricks her into sleeping with him. Chandler and Joey help Ross set up his new apartment and are sick of his whining and tell him to “grab a spoon”. Ross says even if he had the courage to ask someone out, who would he ask? We get some obvious foreshadowing as we cut to Rachel. In the end he does ask Rachel if he can ask her out “sometime” she says yes but nothing much comes of that until much later. Phoebe is seen singing in the subway (uncut) with not much of a story line in the pilot. That’s really it for our first episode.
